C4CCI and Susako, in partnership with the British Council, are excited to invite digital artists to participate in the Sustainable Life Through Arts project. This residency programme encourages artists to explore themes of sustainability by transforming industrial waste into powerful and thought-provoking art pieces. Selected artists will have the unique opportunity to engage with the local community in Izmit, Kocaeli, while addressing urgent environmental concerns through creative mediums.

About the Project: Reimagining Industrial Waste as Art

The Sustainable Life Through Arts project is a visionary initiative supported by the British Council’s Creative Collaborations Grant Programme. It aims to highlight the environmental impact of industrial waste by turning discarded materials into digital and visual art that inspires action. Digital artists are invited to experiment with sustainability in new ways, creating works that advocate for eco-awareness through mediums such as video art, installation, new media, and XR technologies (AR, VR, MR).

Taking place in Izmit, this residency will challenge participants to reimagine the potential of industrial materials and inspire conversations about a sustainable future.

What the Residency Offers

1. Sustainability Arts Workshops
Artists will have the chance to join hands-on upcycling workshops, discovering ways to repurpose industrial materials creatively. The workshops will also empower local women, fostering community engagement and collaborative learning.

2. Digital Artist Residency
This two-day residency in Izmit provides a focused environment for artists to produce experimental works inspired by sustainability. Artists will explore digital and new media to convey eco-conscious messages.

3. Exhibition Opportunities
The works created during the residency will be showcased in a unique exhibition held at Susako’s historic venue in Izmit and via an online platform, reaching a global audience. This dual-format exhibition amplifies the impact of the artists’ creations and encourages discussions on sustainability.

Eligibility: Who Can Apply?

We invite digital artists who are passionate about sustainability and community engagement, with experience in video art, installations, new media, or XR technologies. Ideal applicants should be eager to create original work addressing sustainability, eco-awareness, and the circular economy.

By joining the Sustainable Life Through Arts Residency, selected artists will become part of a significant international collaboration, contributing to a broader dialogue on environmental responsibility through digital art.
